In 1997 he joined global pulp and paper company, Sappi, as the General Manager of their mining support business and served as executive director on the board of Sappi Timber Industries. Leading a carefully selected team and, forming sustainable relationships with prominent mining houses and business partners, the company grew to be the leader in the supply of timber based underground mining support products and support solutions to the gold and platinum industries. Rob started his mining career in 1977 with General Mining and progressed to Production Manager with Matla Coal after completing his National Higher Diploma in Mining and obtaining his Mine Managers Certificate of Competency. He joined African Explosives (AEL) in 1989 and, during a career spanning 12 years, held various positions in the sales, marketing and business functions gaining experience in the local and international environment. Rob has been with the company since 2001 and is responsible for directing the Sales and Marketing function. Minesh graduated with a B Com degree in 1998 from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) before spending a significant period of time being based in the UK where he gained considerable financial exposure, particularly with financial systems. Upon his return to South Africa in 2004, Minesh joined the company, holding various financial positions, with invaluable experience gained with the formation of BedRock and acquisition and then disposal of the plantations.
